Ocho is proof of Terroir in tequila. This aged, high-proof tequila comes from a unique barrel selected for its exceptional aromas and flavors. Bottled at cask strength, Ocho's single barrels are unique and unrepeatable expressions to be sipped neat for the richest agave-forward experience. Even after a year in a barrel, the agave profile from the same field where grown and harvested is evident to be experienced by the most discerning agave spirits drinkers. This higher-proof single-barrel expression of Ocho's Añejo tequilas is unique and an excellent alternative for the tequila aficionado looking to enhance, or bring variation to, the tequila sipping experience.
From Kati Alexander, Topflight Panel Member:
Tequila Ocho is known for its slow, artisanal way of making tequila — with great care and precision. Master Distiller and co-founder Carlos Camarena is a 5th generation agave farmer and 3rd generation Tequilero whose great-grandfather is credited with being the first to bring blue Weber agave to Jalisco! With such a rich family history and connection to the land, it's no surprise that our Tequila Ocho Single Estate Single Barrel delivers incredible quality. Pale in color, this Añejo provides delicate aromas of lime sherbert, buttercream, cedar, and white pepper. Upon your first sip, you're met with a burst of green apple Jolly Rancher, with a hint of butterscotch and a silky mouthfeel. The flavor continues building into juicy lime, a bit of cinnamon spice, and a wonderfully long finish. This single barrel was used once for American whiskey, then several tequila fillings before this aging. It's soft, complex, and well-balanced despite its high proof. Delicious!
