      Winery Notes

      Tasting Notes
From the inviting lemon peel and passion fruit perfume to the silky palate filled with notes of tropical guava, white peach blossom and nectarine, the 2020 EnRoute Brumaire is at once opulent and elegant. Full and generous, with juicy acidity, cool mineral accents – think wet slate and crushed shell – and a lifted vanilla and toffee finish, this is a vintage with presence.

      Vintage Notes
The Russian River Valley growing season began with a warm dry winter. Warm spring temperatures and coastal winds naturally lightened our crop load, bringing our vines into beautiful balance even before fruit set. A warm, dry summer led to an early ripening year. We picked all of our Chardonnay in a single day, and the fruit that came into the winery showed a lovely natural concentration from the early season and drought conditions. We monitored all of our barrels, and ensured that only the most pure, protected fruit went into the final blend of our EnRoute “Brumaire.”

      Vineyard Notes
EnRoute Chardonnay, Russian River Valley, “Brumaire” is named for the fog that gently envelops the vineyards in Russian River Valley, creating the perfect climate to nurture our fruit to ideal ripeness. A discrete group of select clones and growing areas combine to produce the “Brumaire” blend. The Wente clone benefits from the warmth of the northernmost vineyard along Westside Road and contributes an oily texture and tropical notes. The Rued clone, grown in the cool climate of Green Valley, brings beautiful perfume and floral notes to the wine. The Heritage clone provides notes of pear and citrus from a vineyard cultivated in the Goldridge sandy loam along Vine Hill Road in Sebastopol.
